Overview

**RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 211, pseudogene (RN7SL211P)** is a member of a large family of **7SL RNA-derived pseudogenes** in the human genome. 7SL RNA is the RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP), a ribonucleoprotein complex essential for targeting secretory proteins into the endoplasmic reticulum during translation. However, the pseudogene form, such as RN7SL211P, is a non-functional, typically truncated, genomic DNA sequence that arises from the reverse transcription and re-integration of 7SL RNA itself. Like most pseudogenes, RN7SL211P does *not* produce a functional product and is not known to have any direct biological role or therapeutic relevance. Pseudogenes can sometimes interfere with genetic analysis due to sequence similarity to their functional counterparts and may occasionally have regulatory effects, but RN7SL211P specifically has no established function or involvement in disease[2][3][6].
