Overview

RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 218, pseudogene (RN7SL218P) is a human genomic sequence classified as a pseudogene. It is a truncated and nonfunctional copy of the gene encoding 7SL RNA, which is a core RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP). While true 7SL RNA is essential for protein targeting to the endoplasmic reticulum, RN7SL218P lacks coding potential and regulatory elements necessary for functional RNA and has no known biological activity. Pseudogenes like RN7SL218P result from the reverse transcription and integration of RNA sequences back into the genome, but they do not produce active RNA or protein products[1][6][4]. RN7SL218P is not a therapeutic target, nor is it implicated in human disease, does not interact with drugs, and has no established biomarker or safety concern relevance.
