RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 222, pseudogene (RN7SL222P) is classified as a pseudogene of the 7SL RNA gene family[1][2][6]. The 7SL RNA is the functional RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP), which is essential for the cotranslational targeting of secretory proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum[3][4]. However, RN7SL222P itself is not an active gene; it is one of many processed pseudogenes, which are truncated or mutated copies of 7SL RNA genes found throughout the human genome[6]. These pseudogenes are not transcribed into functional RNA and have no known biological function or disease association. They are generally viewed as evolutionary remnants of the functional genes and do not act as protein targets, receptors, or enzymes[6]. There is no evidence for drug interaction, involvement in disease, or use as either a biomarker or therapeutic target.
