RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 266, pseudogene (RN7SL266P) is a pseudogene derived from the 7SL RNA gene family, which encodes the RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP), a conserved ribonucleoprotein complex involved in targeting secretory and membrane proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum in eukaryotes. However, RN7SL266P itself is not a functional gene, but a genomic remnant that does not encode a functional RNA or protein. It lacks biological function, is not a receptor, enzyme, or therapeutic target, and has no known involvement in disease, drug interaction, or biomarker utility. Most 7SL-derived pseudogenes result from reverse-transcribed RNA integrating into new chromosomal locations, leading to truncated, non-functional copies with no expression or role in cellular physiology.
