RN7SL300P is a processed pseudogene that shares sequence homology with the functional 7SL RNA gene, which encodes the RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP) involved in protein targeting to the endoplasmic reticulum[1][3][4][5][9][10]. Most human 7SL-like sequences are pseudogenes generated by reverse transcription and integration of 7SL RNA copies into the genome; only a small minority of 7SL loci encode functional RNAs[3][4][5]. RN7SL300P does not produce a functional RNA product and lacks known physiological, pathological, or pharmacological significance[1][8][12]. It is not a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or any other canonical drug target. Pseudogenes like RN7SL300P are commonly used for comparative genomic analyses and evolutionary studies[3][4]. Functional 7SL RNA forms part of the signal recognition particle, but pseudogenes such as RN7SL300P are generally transcriptionally silent and do not code for active molecules[1][4]. There is an increasing body of research on pseudogene roles in gene regulation and disease, but no evidence was found for RN7SL300P in this context[1][6]. RN7SL300P is indexed in genetics databases such as GeneCards and Ensembl as a pseudogene, not as an active molecule[1][8][12].
