RN7SL400P is a pseudogene of the 7SL RNA gene, which encodes the RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP), a ribonucleoprotein complex essential for the targeting of secretory and membrane proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum in eukaryotes. The canonical 7SL RNA is an abundant noncoding RNA with important architectural and regulatory roles in SRP function, translation arrest, and possibly stress responses[1][3]. In contrast, RN7SL400P refers specifically to a pseudogene—a genomic DNA segment similar to the functional 7SL RNA gene but presumed nonfunctional due to sequence truncation, mutation, or lack of transcription[5][7]. Most 7SL-related pseudogenes, like RN7SL400P, are not transcribed into RNA, do not produce protein, and have no direct, established roles in cellular function or disease[5][7]. Pseudogenes of 7SL RNA, common throughout the human genome, are typically evolutionary remnants resulting from retrotransposition or duplication events[5][7]. In rare cases, some pseudogenes can give rise to small regulatory RNAs or potentially influence gene expression epigenetically, but there is no evidence that RN7SL400P itself serves such a role[4][6]. RN7SL400P is not considered a therapeutic target, nor is it implicated in any disease or current pharmacological modulation. There is something incorrect about listing RN7SL400P as a therapeutic target: it is a pseudogene, not a functional gene, receptor, or protein, and does not encode a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or any molecule typically considered a drug target[5][7].
