Molecular classification
Other (processed pseudogene, non-coding RNA family)
01

Overview

RN7SL401P is a human processed pseudogene related to RNA, 7SL, which itself encodes the scaffold RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP) complex. The SRP complex facilitates the targeting of secretory proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum. However, RN7SL401P does not encode a functional product and is annotated as a non-coding RNA pseudogene. Pseudogenes such as RN7SL401P share sequence similarity with their parental genes but do not produce functional proteins. Some pseudogenes (not specifically RN7SL401P) may regulate the expression of related genes or act as miRNA sponges, but direct evidence for RN7SL401P is lacking.

Mechanism of action

Not applicable. No drugs or therapies are known to engage RN7SL401P directly.

03

Biological functions

None directly attributed. As a pseudogene, RN7SL401P does not encode protein or have a described direct cellular function.By analogy with other pseudogenes, possible functions (not confirmed for RN7SL401P) include competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA) activity, miRNA decoy, or sponge. However, these are speculative without direct evidence.
04

Disease associations

None documented. In general, some pseudogenes may play regulatory roles in cancer or other diseases, but RN7SL401P is not specifically described in this context.
05

Safety considerations

Not applicable; as a pseudogene, RN7SL401P is not targeted therapeutically and there are no known safety or toxicity concerns
06

Interacting drugs
