Overview

RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 430, pseudogene (RN7SL430P) is a human pseudogene derived from the 7SL RNA sequence, which primarily serves as the RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP) in protein targeting to membranes[1][3][6]. Unlike the functional 7SL RNA, RN7SL430P does not encode a protein or an active RNA with known cellular activity; it is a non-coding genomic sequence formed by reverse transcription and integration, resulting in a truncated, nonfunctional RNA copy[1][3]. Human DNA contains hundreds of such 7SL RNA-like pseudogenes, most of which are not expressed or functional[3][4]. While other pseudogenes have been shown to act as regulators of gene expression by acting as “miRNA decoys” or through competition for RNA-binding proteins, there is no evidence for RN7SL430P itself having such a role[2][3]. Currently, it is not considered a therapeutic target or biomarker by any major source[1][4][3].

Biological functions

Other (as a pseudogene, it may potentially regulate its parent gene via mechanisms such as acting as a decoy for regulatory proteins or microRNAs, but this is speculative for RN7SL430P specifically and not demonstrated for this locus)
03

Disease associations

Other (generally, pseudogenes can play roles in cancer and other diseases via regulation of gene expression, but RN7SL430P has no documented individual disease involvement)
