Target intelligence / Profile preview
RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 448, pseudogene (RN7SL448P) is classified as a transcribed pseudogene related to the 7SL RNA gene family. 7SL RNA itself encodes the RNA core of the signal recognition particle (SRP), an essential ribonucleoprotein complex involved in targeting secretory proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum in eukaryotes[1][3][5]. RN7SL448P, however, is annotated as a pseudogene: it carries high sequence similarity to functional 7SL RNA genes but is considered non-functional for protein synthesis, likely as a result of mutations or truncation events[4]. While some pseudogenes transcribe non-coding RNAs that can act as regulatory molecules (often through mechanisms such as miRNA sponging, competition for RNA-binding proteins, or serving as competing endogenous RNAs), RN7SL448P is not known or reported in the literature to play a specific biological or pathological role[2]. In summary: RN7SL448P is a non-coding, non-functional pseudogene of the 7SL RNA family, not known to serve as a therapeutic target or biomarker, nor to have specific biological or disease roles beyond possible generic regulatory activities observed for some pseudogenes[4][2][1].
