Overview

RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 449, pseudogene (RN7SL449P) is a member of a large family of pseudogenes derived from the 7SL RNA–the RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP), which is essential for targeting secretory proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum in eukaryotic cells[1][5][6][8]. These pseudogenes are considered non-functional and are the result of reverse transcription and genomic integration of 7SL RNA sequences or their processed derivatives. There are only a few true 7SL RNA genes in the human genome, with the remainder being classified as pseudogenes, many of which are truncated or otherwise non-expressed copies[5][6][8]. There is currently no evidence that RN7SL449P encodes a protein or has any known biological or clinical function; it is not considered a conventional drug target or disease biomarker[1][7].
