RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 541, pseudogene (RN7SL541P) is a processed pseudogene in the human genome. It is derived from the 7SL RNA gene, which encodes the RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP), a ribonucleoprotein involved in directing signal peptide-bearing nascent proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum membrane during protein synthesis[1][4][5]. However, RN7SL541P itself is a pseudogene, meaning it is a non-functional genomic sequence similar to the functional 7SL RNA gene but does not produce a functional RNA product due to mutations or truncations[4][5]. Most 7SL RNA pseudogenes, including RN7SL541P, are thought to arise from reverse transcription and integration into the genome, and they are generally not actively transcribed or translated, nor do they play established roles in signaling, disease, or as drug targets in humans[5]. There is no evidence that RN7SL541P has a coding or regulatory function, nor is it associated with any diseases or therapeutic mechanisms[4][5].
