Overview

RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 552, pseudogene (RN7SL552P) is a processed pseudogene originating from the 7SL RNA gene. The 7SL RNA is a non-coding RNA element that forms part of the signal recognition particle (SRP) complex, which is involved in targeting nascent proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum during translation[3][4][5]. RN7SL552P, like the majority of 7SL RNA-derived pseudogenes, is a truncated, nonfunctional copy that likely results from retrotransposition events. It does not encode a protein, is not expressed as a functional molecule, and is not regarded as a drug target, receptor, or biomarker. While some pseudogenes in the human genome can produce regulatory RNAs affecting gene expression as competing endogenous RNAs or siRNAs, most—including RN7SL552P—have no proven biological function or involvement in disease[2][5].

Mechanism of action

None

03

Biological functions

None specific to the pseudogene; pseudogene-derived RNAs sometimes act as microRNA decoys (ceRNAs) or epigenetic regulators, but most 7SL pseudogenes do not encode functional molecules
04

Disease associations

None directly attributed to RN7SL552P; *some* 7SL pseudogenes or related noncoding RNAs have been implicated as regulatory RNAs in cancer and viral infection contexts, but RN7SL552P itself has no reported disease role
05

Safety considerations

None known; no therapeutic relevance or functional expression
