RN7SL581P is a member of a large family of human 7SL RNA pseudogenes, representing a non-functional genomic locus derived from the reverse transcription and reintegration of 7SL RNA back into DNA[5]. The parental 7SL RNA is essential for the signal recognition particle, which directs nascent secretory and membrane proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum[1][3]. In contrast, pseudogenes such as RN7SL581P do not encode an active RNA and do not participate in SRP biology. Most 7SL pseudogenes are truncated, lack expression, and have no clearly demonstrated cellular function in humans. The existence of such pseudogenes is interpreted primarily as a genomic footprint of retrotranspositional events rather than as functional regulatory elements. RN7SL581P should not be considered a drug target, receptor, or functional element in therapeutic contexts[5].
