Overview

RN7SL60P is a genomic pseudogene related to 7SL RNA, the non-coding RNA core of the signal recognition particle (SRP), which is essential for directing newly synthesized proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum. RN7SL60P is one of many 7SL RNA pseudogenes found throughout the human genome, arising through reverse transcription and genomic integration of 7SL RNA molecules. Unlike the functional 7SL RNA gene, pseudogenes like RN7SL60P lack the ability to produce functional RNA and are not involved in canonical SRP-mediated cellular processes. Pseudogenes generally do not encode proteins or functional RNAs and are not currently recognized as therapeutic targets, receptors, or enzymes. No direct involvement of RN7SL60P in disease or as a clinical biomarker has been described in the scientific literature.

Biological functions

No direct biological function (pseudogenes are typically non-functional copies and do not encode active RNAs or proteins)
03

Disease associations

No established disease role for RN7SL60P specificallySome pseudogenes (not necessarily RN7SL60P) can have regulatory effects, such as acting as competing endogenous RNAs or miRNA decoys in cancer, but this is not described for RN7SL60P.
