Overview

RN7SL624P (RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 624, pseudogene) is a processed pseudogene found on chromosome 17, resulting from the reverse transcription and genomic integration of the 7SL RNA sequence[4][7]. The canonical 7SL RNA is an essential non-coding component of the signal recognition particle (SRP), involved in targeting secretory proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum[1][3]. In contrast, RN7SL624P and similar 7SL pseudogenes are truncated and lack regulatory or coding sequences necessary for canonical function, and there is no evidence that RN7SL624P itself is functionally expressed or implicated in human disease, pharmacology, protein targeting, or drug action[4][7]. Most pseudogenes of this type serve as genomic relics without direct biological roles, although rare pseudogenes can exert effects by acting as miRNA sponges in specific cancers—however, RN7SL624P is not known to do so[6][7]. RN7SL624P is therefore not considered a therapeutic target, biomarker, or molecule of clinical pharmacological relevance. If a drug or research claim is made regarding RN7SL624P, it is likely based on a misidentification or confusion with the functional 7SL RNA gene (RN7SL1)[1][4].
