In contrast, RN7SL636P is a genomic locus classified as a pseudogene, meaning it is a non-functional copy likely generated by retrotransposition of 7SL RNA and abandoned by the genome for transcriptional or functional activity. Most human 7SL RNA sequences in the genome are pseudogenes and are not known to be transcribed or to participate in known cellular processes. There is no current evidence that RN7SL636P functions as a druggable target, gene expression marker, or disease factor.
