RN7SL660P
Molecular classification
Other, Pseudogene, Noncoding RNA
01

Overview

RN7SL660P is a pseudogene related to the 7SL RNA, which in its functional form constitutes the RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP), a ribonucleoprotein complex involved in protein sorting and trafficking within the cell[1][4][7]. As a pseudogene, RN7SL660P does not encode a functional product and is generally considered nonfunctional or a "genomic relic"; however, some pseudogenes can be transcribed and participate in gene regulation via mechanisms such as acting as microRNA decoys or serving as templates for generation of regulatory RNAs in other contexts[5][2]. There is no evidence that RN7SL660P is a therapeutic target, encodes a functional protein, or is implicated in specific disease mechanisms.
