Overview

RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 724, pseudogene (RN7SL724P) is a non-coding pseudogene related to the 7SL RNA, which is a component of the signal recognition particle (SRP) complex involved in directing proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum during translation[3][5][1]. Pseudogenes are segments of DNA bearing high sequence similarity to functional genes but are considered nonfunctional due to accumulated mutations, deletions, or truncations[6][5]. The majority of 7SL-like sequences in humans are pseudogenes, arising via retrotransposition or duplication of the parental 7SL RNA gene and generally do not produce functional products or participate in known biological processes[5][6]. Currently, RN7SL724P has no demonstrated biological or disease function, drug interaction, or marker role in humans, nor is it a recognized therapeutic target[1]. Pseudogenes occasionally serve regulatory functions in rare cases, often by acting as decoys for regulatory elements (such as microRNAs) or RNA-binding proteins, but no such function is known for RN7SL724P[4][6]. It is therefore not a druggable target or receptor and is generally excluded from lists of therapeutic targets. In summary, RN7SL724P is a non-functional pseudogene derived from 7SL RNA and has no documented roles in physiology, disease, or therapy[1][5][6].
