The 7SL RNA gene normally encodes the RNA component of the signal recognition particle ribonucleoprotein complex, crucial for targeting secretory proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum[7][8]. However, RN7SL787P, like most 7SL-related pseudogenes, was generated by reverse transcription of 7SL RNA sequences and integrated into the genome. These pseudogenes usually lack expression, have truncations, and accumulate mutations, resulting in loss of function. No known therapeutic, diagnostic, or mechanistic roles have been attributed to RN7SL787P or similar 7SL pseudogenes in normal or disease processes[1][3][4][5][6].
