Overview

RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 804, pseudogene (RN7SL804P) is a human pseudogene related to the 7SL RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP)[4][6][7][8]. 7SL RNA is a highly conserved non-coding RNA that plays a central role in the SRP complex, which is essential for targeting secretory proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum during translation[1][3][5]. However, the majority of the hundreds of 7SL RNA-like sequences in the human genome are pseudogenes, such as RN7SL804P, formed by the reverse flow of genetic information from active 7SL RNAs back into genomic DNA[7][8]. These pseudogenes are usually truncated and not expressed as functional RNAs, and they do not have known biological function, disease relevance, or therapeutic targeting potential[7][8]. RN7SL804P, specifically, is classified as a non-functional, truncated pseudogene without known protein-coding capability or role in cell biology or disease[4][6][7][8].
