Unlike the canonical 7SL RNA gene, RN7SL822P is a non-functional, non-coding sequence and does not produce an active RNA or protein product. Pseudogenes like RN7SL822P arise from reverse transcription and genomic insertion of RNA sequences but typically lack regulatory features and are not expressed as functional RNAs. The canonical 7SL RNA plays important roles in protein targeting and trafficking, but pseudogenes such as RN7SL822P do not perform these biological functions and are not recognized therapeutic or biological targets.
