Overview

RNA, 7SL, cytoplasmic 91, pseudogene (RN7SL91P) is a processed pseudogene belonging to a large family of 7SL RNA pseudogenes found dispersed in the human genome[4][3][5]. Unlike the canonical 7SL RNA, which is an integral component of the signal recognition particle (SRP) complex involved in targeting nascent secretory proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum membrane[1], RN7SL91P does not produce a functional RNA or protein. Most 7SL pseudogenes are considered noncoding remnants resulting from reverse transcription and integration of 7SL RNA-like sequences into the genome. There is no evidence that RN7SL91P is a protein-coding gene, nor is it known to function as a regulatory RNA at this time. It is not recognized as a therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, or transporter. Therefore, while pseudogenes in general may have potential to act as regulatory RNAs in some contexts[2], RN7SL91P specifically has no established biological, pathological, or pharmacological relevance.
