RN7SL479P (RNA, 7SL cytoplasmic 479, pseudogene) is a non-functional, sequence-derived pseudogene related to the 7SL RNA gene. The 7SL RNA is a noncoding RNA that constitutes the RNA component of the signal recognition particle (SRP), which is involved in the targeting and translocation of proteins across membranes[1][3]. By contrast, most 7SL pseudogenes, including RN7SL479P, arise from reverse-transcribed 7SL RNA sequences being reinserted into the genome, often as truncated and mutated copies that do not yield a functional product[5][6][7]. These pseudogenes are highly prevalent in the human genome and do not participate in SRP or any known cellular processes. There is no evidence of RN7SL479P being transcribed or having a biological role; it is classified as a genetic fossil rather than a true molecular target[4][6][7].
