RNY1 pseudogene 2 is a noncoding RNA pseudogene, annotated in the human genome as homologous to the functional Y RNA gene RNY1. Y RNAs are small noncoding RNAs involved in chromosomal DNA replication and associated with autoimmune disorders such as lupus and Sjogren syndrome when present as Ro RNPs[1]. However, RNY1P2 itself is a pseudogene and lacks protein-coding capacity and documented function. While pseudogenes can sometimes exert gene regulatory effects by acting as miRNA decoys or generating small regulatory RNAs[3][5], there is no specific evidence for functional activity or disease relevance of RNY1P2. It should not be considered a classical therapeutic target, and its inclusion in target lists may result from annotation errors or confusion with the functional RNY1 gene.
