Overview

RNA, Ro-associated Y4 pseudogene 17 (RNY4P17) is a human non-coding RNA gene classified as a processed pseudogene of the RNY4 locus, typically found annotated in genomic databases but lacking current evidence of protein-coding capacity or direct biological function. While the parent RNY4 gene is implicated in RNA stability, chromosomal DNA replication, and potential roles as a biomarker in cancers such as anaplastic large cell lymphoma, RNY4P17 specifically is not described as functionally relevant in any molecular, cellular, or pathological context in the literature reviewed[3][4]. Pseudogenes such as RNY4P17 can sometimes regulate gene expression at the RNA level—acting as competing endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs), antisense transcripts, or decoys for RNA binding proteins—but there are no published data indicating such functions for RNY4P17[4]. Unlike the bona fide RNY4 gene, RNY4P17 has not been reported as a biomarker, therapeutic target, or gene of disease relevance.
