RNY4P29, or RNA, Ro-associated Y4 pseudogene 29, is a member of the RNY4 pseudogene family—a group of genomic sequences highly homologous to the RNY4 small non-coding RNA but lacking evidence of independent transcription or distinct biological activity[2][3]. Functional RNY4 is a Y RNA component of ribonucleoprotein complexes (notably with Ro60 and La autoantigens), involved in RNA stability, DNA replication, and possibly regulation of immune responses and cancer progression[1][2]. Several RNY4 pseudogenes (such as RNY4P7, RNY4P10, and RNY4P20) have been detected as DNA sequences or RNA fragments in some sequencing studies, but RNY4P29 specifically does not have demonstrated function, and RNY4-derived fragments studied as potential biomarkers are from the parent RNY4 locus, not its pseudogenes[1][2]. There is no evidence that RNY4P29 is a receptor, enzyme, or therapeutic target, nor that it independently impacts disease[1][2][3].
