Overview

RNY4 pseudogene 13 (RNY4P13) is a processed pseudogene of the RNY4 gene, which encodes a YRNA frequently associated with Ro60 ribonucleoproteins. Unlike the parent RNY4 gene, RNY4P13 is a non-functional sequence presumed to be unexpressed and lacking known molecular activity[3][4]. RNY4P13 has no documented role in biology, cell signaling, or pathology. YRNA pseudogenes such as RNY4P13 are sometimes referenced in exosome profiling studies, but current data strongly suggest they do not act as disease-relevant functional targets or biomarkers[1][2]. Pseudogenes can have regulatory roles in rare cases (for example, as competing endogenous RNAs), but there is no evidence for RNY4P13 performing such functions[6]. If you intended to refer to the functional RNY4 gene (RNA, Ro60-Associated Y4), which is under investigation as a liquid biopsy biomarker in certain cancers, such as anaplastic large cell lymphoma, please clarify; the RNY4 gene and its RNA product—and not its pseudogenes—have shown biological activity as non-coding exosomal RNA and have been suggested as possible biomarkers for tumor staging and progression[1][2]. However, RNY4P13 itself is not recognized or studied as a therapeutic target, biomarker, or molecule of clinical interest.
