RNU1-140P refers to a pseudogene classified as "RNA, U1 small nuclear 140, pseudogene." Pseudogenes are non-protein coding sequences in the genome that resemble functional genes but typically carry mutations, deletions, or insertions that prevent them from producing functional products. RNU1-140P is related to the U1 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) gene family, which encodes essential components of the spliceosome complex for pre-mRNA splicing. However, as a pseudogene, RNU1-140P is not known to produce a functional U1 snRNA or to be actively involved in catalyzing or regulating biological processes. Some “variant” U1 snRNA pseudogenes can be transcribed and may, in select cases, play minor regulatory roles, but no such function is currently attributed to RNU1-140P specifically. This entity is not considered a classic therapeutic target (e.g., receptor, enzyme, transporter, transcription factor) and is not directly involved in disease pathology or pharmacology[1][2][3].
