Overview

RNA, U1 small nuclear 41, pseudogene (RNU1-41P) is a human genetic locus annotated as a pseudogene of the U1 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) family. It bears sequence similarity to canonical U1 small nuclear RNA genes but has accumulated mutations rendering it non-functional; such pseudogenes do not yield a functional snRNA product and do not contribute to spliceosomal activity. The canonical U1 snRNA plays a central role in pre-mRNA splicing by guiding spliceosome assembly, but RNU1-41P is not believed to participate in any functional RNA or disease-related mechanism. There is no evidence that RNU1-41P serves as a therapeutic target, nor does it appear as a biomarker or drug interaction node[1]. Note: - This entry is classified as a pseudogene, which, by definition, does not encode an active gene product and is not considered a therapeutic target[1]. - Functional information found for canonical U1 snRNA (e.g., RNU1-1) does not apply to this pseudogene variant[1][5].
