RNU1-67P (RNA, U1 small nuclear 67, pseudogene) encodes a non-coding RNA pseudogene sequence homologous to the canonical U1 small nuclear RNA gene. U1 snRNA is an essential component of the spliceosome, required for pre-mRNA splicing and transcriptome integrity. RNU1-67P itself does not produce functional snRNA or protein and is classified as a pseudogene. Some U1 pseudogenes in the same family can be transcribed and appear to play nuanced regulatory roles in cell fate or RNA processing, but there is no direct evidence that RNU1-67P is among the functionally active variants. Its function, if any, remains unknown, and it is not currently relevant as a therapeutic target or biomarker.
