01

Overview

RNU1-68P (RNA, U1 small nuclear 68, pseudogene) is a human pseudogene belonging to the U1 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) gene family[2][4][5]. Unlike functional U1 snRNA genes (such as RNU1-1 or RNU1-2), which encode components of the spliceosomal machinery essential for pre-mRNA splicing, RNU1-68P does not encode a functional RNA molecule and is not incorporated into the spliceosome. There is no evidence that RNU1-68P is transcribed or expressed as a functional RNA in cells, nor does it participate in RNA processing or other regulatory functions. It is not considered a biological target for drugs or therapeutic intervention, and there are no known associations with disease, biomarkers, or adverse effects. RNU1-68P is cataloged chiefly in genomic databases for annotation and homology purposes, consistent with the typical role of pseudogenes in the human genome[4][5].
