Overview

RNU1-77P stands for "RNA, U1 small nuclear 77, pseudogene," a member of the large U1 small nuclear RNA pseudogene family in humans[1][3]. Unlike functional U1 RNAs, which are critical non-coding RNAs responsible for 5′ splice site recognition during pre-mRNA splicing, RNU1-77P is annotated as a pseudogene and is not believed to produce a functional product[1][3]. Pseudogenes such as RNU1-77P may be the remnants of gene duplications or retrotransposition events; most are not transcribed or, if transcribed, do not play an established biological function[3]. There is no evidence that RNU1-77P acts as a therapeutic or diagnostic target, nor does it have a role in disease, drug interactions, or biomarker relevance in current biomedical databases. It is not a functional receptor, enzyme, transporter, or other canonical drug target class.
