RNU11-5P is a **pseudogene** corresponding to the U11 small nuclear RNA (snRNA). While functional U11 snRNA is an essential component of the minor spliceosome—participating in pre-mRNA splicing and 5'-splice site recognition—the pseudogene form (RNU11-5P) does **not produce a functional RNA** and is **not known to have a biological function**[4][5][7]. Like other snRNA pseudogenes, RNU11-5P arises from duplication or retrotransposition events and represents an inactive genomic locus with sequence similarity to active U11 snRNA genes[5][8]. RNU11-5P is not considered a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or any druggable protein target, and there is no evidence of it being therapeutically targeted or implicated directly in human disease. While some pseudogenes may be transcribed and occasionally have regulatory RNA roles in rare contexts, current evidence does not support such a function for RNU11-5P[4][8].
