RNA, U2 small nuclear 42, pseudogene (RNU2-42P) is a processed pseudogene in humans located on chromosome 10[6][5][1]. As a pseudogene, it is a non-protein-coding genomic element and does not produce a functional RNA or protein product. RNU2-42P is related by sequence to functional U2 small nuclear RNA (snRNA), which is an essential component of the spliceosome involved in pre-mRNA splicing; however, pseudogenes like RNU2-42P do not perform these biological functions[6][1][2]. There is no evidence that RNU2-42P acts as a therapeutic target, nor is it implicated in disease processes or drug interactions, and it is not used as a biomarker.
