Overview

RNA, U4atac small nuclear 13, pseudogene (RNU4ATAC13P) is an annotated pseudogene in the human genome. It is homologous to the functional U4atac small nuclear RNA (snRNA) genes, which are components of the minor spliceosome required for splicing U12-type introns from pre-mRNA. As a pseudogene, RNU4ATAC13P is generally considered non-functional: it does not encode a protein and there is no evidence for a stable or functional RNA product. While pseudogenes can sometimes be transcribed and participate in regulatory processes (e.g., as miRNA decoys or sources of small regulatory RNAs), there is no direct evidence that RNU4ATAC13P is active in such roles. It is not considered a therapeutic target or biomarker. RNU4ATAC13P is therefore best classified as a pseudogene of non-coding RNA origin, with no established therapeutic, diagnostic, or functional biological significance currently documented in the scientific literature.

Mechanism of action

None (no evidence of being druggable or of interacting with small molecules or biologics)

03

Biological functions

No direct function as a protein or enzymeLike other pseudogenes, may participate in regulatory RNA processes such as acting as a potential RNA decoy or, if transcribed, may generate regulatory non-coding RNAs, short interfering RNAs (siRNAs), or microRNA decoysPotential involvement in post-transcriptional regulation, though not experimentally confirmed for this specific pseudogene
04

Disease associations

No direct rolePseudogenes (in general) can regulate gene expression and have emerging roles in diseases (such as acting as competing endogenous RNAs in cancer), but there is no evidence that RNU4ATAC13P specifically is involved in any disease mechanism
