Overview

RNU4ATAC18P is a *pseudogene* of the RNA, U4atac small nuclear gene family[1]. It does not encode a functional small nuclear RNA. Functionally, it is classified as a non-coding RNA pseudogene, and there are no known direct biological roles or disease associations for this specific pseudogene. The parent gene family (RNU4ATAC) encodes U4atac snRNA, a component of the minor spliceosome essential for splicing of U12-type introns, and mutations in the functional RNU4ATAC gene have been linked to several severe developmental disorders[4]. However, for RNU4ATAC18P itself, there is no evidence that it is expressed or that it acts as a therapeutic target. Pseudogenes in general may exert regulatory effects, such as acting as competing endogenous RNAs or being processed into regulatory RNAs, but no such roles have been reported for RNU4ATAC18P[1][5]. **Note:** - As a *pseudogene*, RNU4ATAC18P is generally not considered a protein, enzyme, receptor, transporter, or direct therapeutic target[1][5]. - There appears to be nothing specifically wrong with the record, except that it *does not correspond to an actionable or canonical pharmacological target*; thus, **is_incorrect: true** (for the purpose of target lists). - The functional and disease information of the *functional gene* (RNU4ATAC) should not be ascribed to the pseudogene.

Biological functions

No known direct biological function (as a pseudogene); functional U4atac snRNA pseudogenes may have regulatory roles, but this is not specific to RNU4ATAC18P[1][5].
03

Disease associations

None known for this pseudogene; the parent gene RNU4ATAC is associated with recessive developmental disorders, but not this pseudogene[1][4].
