It does not encode an active small nuclear RNA and lacks participation in splicing or any known cellular process. Pseudogenes like RNU4ATAC2P arise from duplication or retrotransposition events and are defined by their sequence similarity to functional genes but absence of biological activity. There are no reported disease associations, therapeutic roles, or established biomarkers for RNU4ATAC2P, distinguishing it from the functional RNU4ATAC gene, which is critical for minor spliceosome function and implicated in rare inherited developmental syndromes[3][5].
