The parental RNU4ATAC gene encodes a minor spliceosome component (U4atac snRNA) crucial for U12-type intron splicing, but pseudogenes like RNU4ATAC9P generally lack such function. Although some pseudogenes influence gene expression through mechanisms such as acting as competing endogenous RNAs or generating small interfering RNAs, there is no evidence that RNU4ATAC9P has any such regulatory roles or clinical significance.
