Specifically, it is predicted to participate in the formation of the spliceosomal tri-snRNP complex (U4/U6•U5), which is essential for the catalysis of intron removal and exon ligation during mRNA maturation[5][6]. The U5 family of snRNAs, including RNU5D-1, helps align exons for accurate splicing and is necessary for the fidelity of gene expression in human cells[2][3].
