RNU6-1013P is a processed pseudogene derived from the U6 small nuclear RNA. The U6 snRNA itself is an essential component of the spliceosome, where it participates in catalyzing excision of introns from pre-mRNA in eukaryotic nuclei[1][3]. However, pseudogenes like RNU6-1013P are inactive genomic fragments that result from retrotransposition events such as LINE1-mediated reverse transcription[4][5]. They lack biological function and do not produce functional RNA or protein. Numerous U6 snRNA pseudogenes exist in the human genome and serve as markers of retrotransposition dynamics, rather than functional molecules. They are not considered therapeutic targets, do not encode receptors, enzymes, or other typical drug-target classes, and have no established role as disease biomarkers or in drug interactions[4][5]. Note: The canonical functional molecule is U6 small nuclear RNA (U6 snRNA), sometimes abbreviated as RNU6-1 or similar; its pseudogenes (e.g., RNU6-1013P) are not functionally active. RNU6-1013P reflects genomic evidence of retrotransposition, not a true molecular target or receptor[4][5].
