RNU6-1016P is a pseudogene belonging to the family of U6 small nuclear RNAs. Unlike functional copies of U6 snRNA, which are involved in the catalytic core of the spliceosome facilitating the splicing of precursor mRNAs in eukaryotic cells, RNU6-1016P does not produce a functional RNA product and is classified as a non-coding RNA pseudogene[5][3]. The human genome contains numerous U6 snRNA pseudogenes, reflecting the evolutionary conservation and abundance of the U6 family[3][5]. There is currently no evidence implicating RNU6-1016P in any known pathophysiological process or as a therapeutic target, nor are any drugs known to directly interact with it[5]. RNU6-1016P may serve as a genomic marker in certain bioinformatics datasets but lacks a demonstrated role in gene regulation, disease, or therapy[2][5].
