RNA, U6 small nuclear 1038, pseudogene (RNU6-1038P) is a pseudogene related to U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA). U6 snRNA is an essential non-coding RNA involved in the assembly of the spliceosome, the molecular machinery responsible for removing introns from pre-mRNA during mRNA splicing in the nucleus of eukaryotic cells[1][3]. However, as a pseudogene, RNU6-1038P is a non-functional, non-coding remnant of the functional U6 snRNA gene and does not produce a functional RNA product[4][7]. Such pseudogenes are common in vertebrate genomes and represent evolutionary "backup" or non-functional copies that do not participate in splicing or other biological processes[1][4]. No evidence supports a therapeutic or biomarker role for this pseudogene, nor are there known drugs or clinical safety concerns related to it.
