RNA, U6 small nuclear 1050, pseudogene (RNU6-1050P) is a pseudogene of the U6 small nuclear RNA gene family. U6 snRNA is an essential component of the spliceosome, which mediates the splicing of pre-mRNA in eukaryotic cells[1][3]. However, pseudogenes like RNU6-1050P represent non-functional or "dead" copies of the U6 snRNA gene. These pseudogenes may occur throughout the human genome, often retaining sequence similarity to their functional counterparts but typically contain mutations, insertions, or deletions that prevent them from being expressed as functional RNAs[5][8]. There is currently no evidence that RNU6-1050P is expressed, nor does it play a direct biological or clinical role. Its presence in the genome aids in tracing evolutionary processes and gene family expansion but does not identify it as a functional or druggable target[7][6][8].
