Overview

RNU6-1101P (RNA, U6 small nuclear 1101, pseudogene) refers to a processed pseudogene derived from the U6 small nuclear RNA gene, present in the human genome as a non-protein encoding locus[4]. The U6 snRNA itself is a highly conserved, non-coding RNA component of the spliceosome, responsible for catalyzing intron excision from pre-mRNA as part of post-transcriptional mRNA maturation[3][1][5]. By contrast, pseudogenes like RNU6-1101P are generated via retrotransposition events by LINE elements such as LINE-1, and do not produce a functional RNA product[2]. These pseudogenes may serve as markers of genome retrotransposition history but lack any direct biological function or disease relevance, and are not considered receptors, enzymes, therapeutic targets, or useful biomarkers[2][4][3].

Other names
RNU6-1101P

Mechanism of action

Not applicable; pseudogenes do not encode proteins or functional RNA and therefore do not participate in druggable mechanisms

03

Biological functions

No established biological function; pseudogenes generally do not encode functional product
04

Disease associations

None established; RNU6-1101P does not have reported roles in human disease
05

Safety considerations

None specific to RNU6-1101P; pseudogenes in general do not pose therapeutic safety concerns
06

Interacting drugs

None; no drugs target small nuclear RNA pseudogenes such as RNU6-1101P
07

Biomarkers

None; not used as a biomarker for patient selection or monitoring
