Target intelligence / Profile preview

RNA, U6 small nuclear 1141, pseudogene (RNU6-1141P)

Target
RNU6-1141P
Molecular classification
Pseudogene, Small nuclear RNA-derived element
01

Overview

RNU6-1141P is a pseudogene copy of the U6 small nuclear RNA gene, which was likely formed by retrotransposition or duplication followed by loss of function[6][5]. The parental gene, U6 snRNA, is a crucial RNA component within the spliceosome, driving pre-mRNA splicing in eukaryotic cells and highly conserved across species[1][3]. In contrast, pseudogenes such as RNU6-1141P no longer function in splicing or other cellular processes. Mammalian genomes contain many U6 snRNA pseudogenes, which are considered non-coding, lack protein products, and generally have no regulatory or disease relevance unless otherwise demonstrated[6][5]. Currently, there is no evidence that RNU6-1141P is transcribed, functional, or clinically relevant as a therapeutic target or biomarker.
