The U6 small nuclear RNA 1147 pseudogene (RNU6-1147P) is a non-functional genetic element derived from the U6 snRNA gene, which is highly conserved and essential for pre-mRNA splicing as part of the spliceosome in eukaryotic cells[3][1]. Unlike the functional U6 snRNA, RNU6-1147P does not participate in biological processes or encode a functional RNA molecule, and is typically regarded as a transcriptional relic resulting from duplication or retrotransposition events[2][5]. While the functional U6 snRNA is vital for spliceosome assembly and catalysis, its pseudogenes, including RNU6-1147P, are not involved in splicing activities and generally do not contribute to protein or RNA production.
