RNU6-115P is a pseudogene derived from U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA)[4][5]. Unlike functional U6 snRNA, which is an essential part of the spliceosome complex responsible for pre-mRNA splicing in eukaryotic nuclei[1][3], RNU6-115P does not encode a functional RNA or protein and is generally considered non-functional. Human genomes commonly contain many U6-derived pseudogenes, reflecting the evolutionary conservation and importance of functional U6 snRNA[1]. Pseudogenes like RNU6-115P serve as inactive genetic remnants and are not classified as therapeutic targets such as enzymes, receptors, or transporters. While some pseudogenes have been implicated in disease via regulatory functions[2], there is no evidence that RNU6-115P acts as a biomarker or contributes to disease mechanisms. It is not targeted by any known drugs and does not play a direct role in signal transduction, cell cycle regulation, or other canonical biological processes relevant to therapeutic targeting.
