Molecular classification

Overview

RNA, U6 small nuclear 1150, pseudogene (RNU6-1150P) is a human pseudogene located on chromosome 21 that corresponds in sequence to the family of U6 small nuclear RNAs. U6 snRNAs are small non-coding RNAs essential for spliceosome function and pre-mRNA processing. However, RNU6-1150P itself does not encode a functional RNA and is classified as a pseudogene. It is not considered a druggable biological target, has no known physiological function, and is not associated with recognized disease roles or therapeutic approaches. RNU6-1150P is one of many U6 snRNA pseudogenes; it is not equivalent to the canonical, functionally essential U6 small nuclear RNA (for example, RNU6-1 or U6). No drug, disease, or functional data are associated with RNU6-1150P itself. The functional/biomedical significance is with U6 snRNA, not with pseudogenes like RNU6-1150P. Any information about U6 snRNA function, biogenesis, and role in the spliceosome does not apply to this pseudogene, but rather to the canonical U6 snRNA.
