RNU6-1172P, or RNA, U6 small nuclear 1172, pseudogene, is a processed pseudogene of the U6 small nuclear RNA gene found in the human genome[4][6][7]. U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) itself forms part of the spliceosome, a large ribonucleoprotein complex necessary for pre-mRNA splicing in eukaryotes[1][3]. However, as a pseudogene, RNU6-1172P is not transcribed into a functional RNA and does not contribute to spliceosome assembly or activity[4][7][8]. U6 snRNA pseudogenes arose through retrotransposition and serve as molecular markers of genome dynamics rather than as protein-coding or regulatory elements[8][5]. There is no established biological function, disease association, drug interaction, or safety concern related to RNU6-1172P[7].
