RNA, U6 small nuclear 1194, pseudogene (RNU6-1194P) is a pseudogene derived from the U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) family, which are critical non-coding RNAs involved in pre-mRNA splicing as essential components of the major spliceosome[1][3]. However, as a pseudogene, it is not believed to encode a functional RNA product or to participate directly in splicing or cellular metabolism[2]. Pseudogenes are genomic DNA sequences that resemble functional genes but have lost protein-coding ability or biological RNA activity due to mutations such as frame shifts or premature stop codons. The canonical (functional) U6 snRNA is highly conserved across species and plays a direct role in the catalytic center of the spliceosome, but this has not been demonstrated for the pseudogene RNU6-1194P[1][3]. Therefore, this target is not considered a therapeutic target and there is no evidence linking it to specific biological functions, disease roles, drug interactions, or biomarker applications.
